This is just not his best. I've been asked about Ted Dekker a few times, and had some concerns in some of what I read. I like to read true stories and prefer a good dose of probability if not historicity in my fiction. I read the ending several times as I realized that this was not just a story, but truth that most of us fail or refuse to see. This is not indicative of the his best efforts. But my mother, like everything else in my past, is dead. The biggest thing was that this story didn't really pull me along. Definitely a worthwhile read for thriller and Dekker fans alike.
