Town Prerov

Prerov lies on an important railroad Praha - Kosice .

It has got about 50,000 citizens . The historical centre of Prerov is the Horni namesti (Upper square) which is dominated by a Renaissance chateau with the Komensky Museum inside . Among the historical houses ( of the 15th and 16th centuries ) which surround Horni namesti lies the oldest one , the so - called Korvin house . On Horni namesti is the statue of Jan Blahoslav , who was born in Prerov and was an important personality of culture life in past .

The important cultural and social centre in Prerov is the Mestsky dum (Town house ) built in 1897 with a large hall where an international jazz festival is organized each year . A well - known archaeological site is Predmosti evidencing the life of mammoth hunters 25000 years ago.
